Saura Weekly Updates - January 6, 2019

Congratulations to our Poetry Out Loud participants!

1st Place - Natasha Simmons
2nd Place - Nimai Browning
3rd Place - Katie Tilley
4th Place - Ian Harris

Natasha and Nimai will go on to compete in the district competition on January 19 at The Arts Place in Danbury.

First semester is quickly coming to an end.  Exams will be held January 15-18 with early dismissals each day at 12:30 pm.  Exams count 20% of students' final grade so please remind students to begin studying now.

SmartBreakfast (SCHEDULE)
Don't forget that tutoring is available each morning 8:00 am - 8:25 am.  Most teachers have SmartBreakfast at least two days a week.  Several students have been taking advantage of this opportunity to get assistance with material and begin preparing for exams.  You can check out the schedule linked above and on our website.

Chromebooks for Exams
Students will need to bring FULLY CHARGED Chromebooks for exams.  Students who have school-issued devices and do not bring them on exam days must make-up the exam on a different day.  Students who use personal devices during the semester will be allowed to check out a Chromebook on the morning of their exams.  No personal devices may be used for exams.

Yearbook Information!
Information about senior ads went home this past week.  There are several sizes for families who want to purchase a spot in the yearbook to commemorate their child's achievements.  You can also design the senior ad online at www.yearbookforever.com.  Ads are due by January 11.

Yearbooks are still on sale for $65, but will go up in price to $75 after first semester exams.  You can purchase a copy at school or online at www.yearbookforever.com.  Be sure to reserve your copy now before the price goes up second semester.

Make-up Days
The Board of Education met on Friday afternoon and set the following make-up schedule for the missed days this past week.  Thursday, December 20 will now be a full student day, Friday, December 21 will now be a student day with an early dismissal at 12:30 pm. January 22, February 15, and February 18 will also now be student days.
