Saura Weekly Updates - September 22, 2019

Congratulations to our newest Beta Club Members!

It is hard to believe we are almost half way through the first quarter of the school year! This week we are hosting a conference night on Tuesday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.  We encourage you to drop by that evening to get an update on how your student is progressing this semester.

Congratulations to the sophomores who earned a five minute break during homeroom on Friday for being the grade level with the best attendance for the week!  Regular attendance is crucial for success and we appreciate your support in reinforcing the importance of being in school on time every day!

Fall Family Conferences

Carpentry 2 Students
Families and students are encouraged to attend our Family Conferences for fall semester classes on Tuesday, September 24 from 5:00-7:00 pm.  Teachers will be available in their classrooms that evening to share about students' progress for the semester.  This is also an excellent opportunity to learn about the curriculum in courses.  Feel free to drop in any time that evening to meet with teachers; no appointment is needed.

We also encourage you to check your student's progress in PowerSchool.  You can set notifications to receive text messages or emails about grades and attendance as well as see individual assignment grades and more.  If you need assistance accessing your child's account, contact the school and speak with Mrs. Jill Tuttle.

Football Helmets: Vote for the Sauras!
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina and the Caroline Panthers are sponsoring #WEARITLIKEAPRO.  Vote for South Stokes to win the same football helmets worn by the Panthers at this LINK.

College, Career, and More:  Counselor Updates
Our counselors send emails and post updates on Twitter @SSHSCounselors about upcoming opportunities and college and career information.  Encourage your student to connect with counselors and check their email regularly to stay up-to-date.  You can also get information from their website https://southstokes.weebly.com/.  If you would like to set up a meeting with your child's counselor about future courses and post-secondary plans, you can reach them at 336-994-2995 or via email:

9th & 11th Grade Counselor - christina.sawyer@stokes.k12.nc.us
10th & 12th Grade Counselor - jennifer.spargo@stokes.k12.nc.us

We also have a College Adviser, Ms. Tabitha Dean, working with our counselors this year.  Ms. Dean can be reached at school or at tabitha.dean@stokes.k12.nc.us.
