Students Return to 
School September 14!

We are excited to have students return to campus on Plan B beginning Monday, September 14!  You can view the contents of Dr. Rice's message HERE or on the Stokes County Schools website.   

This week, the schedule for on-campus attendance is

Monday, September 14 -  Last Names A-K ("A" Day)
Tuesday, September 15 - Last Names A-K ("A" Day)
Wednesday, September 16 - Last Names A-K ("A" Day)

Thursday, September 17 - Last Names L-Z ("B" Day)
Friday, September 18 - Last Names L-Z ("B" Day)

AP students will attend in-person based on their last names and their AP courses will continue to alternate every other day as usual.

The calendar for "A" Day and "B" Day students can be found in the Stokes County Schools Relaunch Plan.  These dates have also been added to the South Stokes calendar as well.





Reminders about Plan B
Students returning to in-school instruction should review some of the changes they will see on campus.  Watch the video below to review the following items:

  • Bus transportation (will need attestation form and mask)
  • Where to park - front lot in numbered spaces (no permit required at this time)
  • Breakfast (free for everyone)
  • Where to report when arriving at school (the main lobby will not open until 7:30 am; report to 1st period at 8:00 am)
  • Social distancing (don't gather in groups, maintain space between students)
  • One way hallways (follow the arrowheads)
  • 3rd Period begins at 11:40 am
  • Lunches (delivered to classrooms - eat with 3rd period MENU)







PowerSchool Grades
We have completed three weeks of instruction and teachers are updating grades in PowerSchool.  Please be sure to login to view grades and attendance information.  Students are able to sign in and view their grades as well.  If you would like access to PowerSchool, please contact Jill Tuttle in the office for information about accessing your account.



School Pictures
School pictures for underclassmen and senior makeups will take place in October.  The schedule can be found below.  Please note, there will not be a makeup day for underclassmen, so students who would like to be pictured in the yearbook will need to have their pictures made on these dates.

9th - 11th Graders

Tuesday, October 13
"A" Day Students (during 4th Period)
3:20 - 4:20 pm for Plan C students

Friday, October 16
"B" Day Students (during 4th Period)
3:20 - 4:20 pm for Plan C students


Senior Make-ups 
(last day for seniors who did not have pictures made during the summer to be photographed for the yearbook)

Bus Information


Bus riders should have received a call from the bus drivers about an approximate time for their pick-up and drop-off.  Students boarding the bus will need to bring a signed attestation form each day.  Blank forms were mailed to you this past week.  You can also download a form HERE.   Please be patient with our drivers as they learn the new A Day / B Day routes.






Yearbooks on Sale!
Yearbooks for the 2020-2021 school year are now on sale.  The price is $55.00 and if you order a personalized yearbook by September 11, you get four free icons on the cover.  You can purchase yearbooks at school or online.  The link can be found on the school website under Students, click on Order a Yearbook.  Also, information about senior ads is on the school website.  Ads will be due in December.

Technology Assistance
If students are having problems with their Chromebooks, please submit a Tech Ticket on the school website and our staff will get in touch with you to help resolve the issue.

School Cash Online
School fees for classes will be waived this semester.  The Chromebook insurance fee, drivers ed fee, "It's My Call" fee, and parking permit fee (when issued) will be required.  We encourage families to set up an account on School Cash Online. When fees are applied for spring semester, field trip payments are due, etc. you will receive a notification and be able to see the fees on the site. You can then pay the fees online or in the office at school.







GOOD NEWS from Child Nutrition!
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended the summer nutrition program through December 31, 2020 which allows all students to eat for free at school.  Students on campus will be able to pick up a free breakfast on the way to 1st period and lunches will be delivered to classrooms during 3rd period.  Lunches will be packaged and no extra items (chips, candy, soft drinks, etc.) will be available for purchase.  You can find the lunch menu available on our website and at the following link:  SEPT LUNCH MENU.

Students working from home can still receive meals by picking them up at any elementary, middle or high school.  Elementary pickups are available from 10:00-11:00 am and Middle and High School pickups are 10:30-11:30 am.



Parking Permits
Applications for parking permits will be distributed once all students are back on campus.  While we are under Plan B, student drivers may park in any numbered spot in the front parking lot.



Sports Information
This week the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) announced a plan for shortened sports seasons which will begin in November.  The amended sports calendar can be found below.  The week of August 17 will be a "dead period" with no workouts that week.    Contact coaches for information about any scheduled workouts.
