Saura Weekly Updates - 9/25/2016

Weekly Updates - September 25, 2016

Direct Donation Fundraiser

We greatly appreciate the donations to our school-wide fundraisers.  Although we didn't reach our $10,000 goal in two weeks that would have earned the free tailgate and admission to the ballgame, we will continue to accept donations for the remainder of September.  Currently, we have collected $3,275.  Students will still be eligible for the t-shirt, gift card, and SSHS yearbook incentives through September 30.  Hopefully with a few extra days we can get closer to our goal in order to help purchase instructional supplies, beautify our campus, and upgrade our technology.  Cash and checks are accepted or you can donate using credit or debit cards online by going to our website and clicking on Donate to SSHS.

Students who collect the following amounts will receive the following incentives:

At least $25 in donations - South Stokes T-Shirt
At least $75 in donations - Choose from Gift Certificate Display
At least $150 in donations - South Stokes 2016-2017 Yearbook

SOPHOMORES - CLASS RINGS

Saura Weekly Updates 9/18/16

Weekly Updates - September 18, 2016

Direct Donation Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who has donated to our direct donation fundraiser so far.  Remember that if every student collects just $20 in donations, we will reach our goal of $10,000.  We have just about reached the $1,000 mark so we have a way to go for our students to earn the free tailgate and entrance into our next home football game.  Donations are tax deductible and will assist in purchasing instructional supplies, beautifying our campus, and upgrading technology.

Students' names will also be entered into drawings for each $5 they collect.

Attendance
Parents, we need your assistance!  It is very important that students be in class on time everyday.  While we realize that it is allergy season, please encourage your child to attend school regularly.  Missing excessive days can result in no credit being awarded for classes which negatively impacts the ability to graduate on time.  You can check your child's attendance and grades in PowerSchool and can have PowerSchool text or email you with grades and attendance information.  Help us make sure your child earns the credits they need to excel!

Progress Reports & Parent/Teacher Conferences
The first progress reports of the year should come home on Tuesday.  Please discuss these reports with your child.  We will hold Parent/Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, September 27th from 5:00-7:00 pm.  Please make plans to stop by and visit with your child's teachers on the 27th to get more in-depth information about your child's progress to this point.

Saura Weekly Updates 9/11/16

Weekly Updates - September 11, 2016

Although short, this past week was full of activities at South.  Several clubs at school manned tables in the lobby two days this week to recruit new members and advertise upcoming events.  We encourage all of our students to get involved in a club or activity at South.  On Friday, we held our first Pep Rally of the year and it was nice to see our students display their Saura Pride.

Direct Donation Fundraiser
Tomorrow we will begin our direct donation school-wide fundraiser.  Rather than selling wrapping paper, cookie dough or magazine subscriptions, we are asking each student to collect at least $20 in donations to help us reach our goal of $10,000.  Students who collect the following amounts will receive the following incentives:

At least $25 in donations - South Stokes T-Shirt

At least $75 in donations - Choose from Gift Certificate Display

At least $150 in donations - South Stokes 2016-2017 Yearbook

Students' names will also be entered into drawings for each $5 they collect.

It will only take $20 per student to reach our goal of $10,000 which will help purchase instructional supplies, make improvements to our campus, and increase access to technology. Cash and checks are accepted or you can donate using credit or debit cards online by going to our website and clicking on Donate to SSHS.

School Fees
We will begin collecting fees for the fall semester beginning Monday, September 12.  Tables will be set up in the lobby before school and during lunch for fee collection.  Fees can be paid with check or cash.  Checks should include phone numbers.  You can also pay fees online at https://www.k12paymentcenter.com/.  You can find detailed information about this service on the Stokes County Schools website on the Parent Page.  We will also be adding a link on the South Stokes Parent Page later this week.

Driver's Education
Registration for the next driver's education class will close on September 14.  Complete information and the registration link can be found on the South Stokes website on the Drivers Ed page.  The class will begin on September 26.

Parking Permits
Students who have submitted their parking applications and parking fee received their parking permits this past week.  Beginning Monday, September 12, students should park in their assigned spaces.  Students who park in a spot that is not theirs or park without a permit will be ticketed.  If a student still needs a permit, please complete the application that is available in the office and submit the parking fee as soon as possible to prevent accumulating parking tickets.  Also, please remember that having a parking permit is a privilege and student drivers are expected to be at school on time each day.  We had several drivers wandering in late this past week, some of them multiple days.  Parents, please encourage your children to leave home in plenty of time to be in class by 8:30 am.

Athletic Boosters
Athletic Boosters will meet Monday, September 12 at 6:30 pm in the school cafeteria.  Please come help support all of our athletic programs at South Stokes.

Thank You!
Thank you to everyone who is working to help keep our fire lanes around the school free of vehicles.  Keeping our students safe and providing clear access for emergency responders is very important and we appreciate your help in this effort!
