Saura Weekly Updates - 9/25/2016

Weekly Updates - September 25, 2016

Direct Donation Fundraiser

We greatly appreciate the donations to our school-wide fundraisers.  Although we didn't reach our $10,000 goal in two weeks that would have earned the free tailgate and admission to the ballgame, we will continue to accept donations for the remainder of September.  Currently, we have collected $3,275.  Students will still be eligible for the t-shirt, gift card, and SSHS yearbook incentives through September 30.  Hopefully with a few extra days we can get closer to our goal in order to help purchase instructional supplies, beautify our campus, and upgrade our technology.  Cash and checks are accepted or you can donate using credit or debit cards online by going to our website and clicking on Donate to SSHS.

Students who collect the following amounts will receive the following incentives:

At least $25 in donations - South Stokes T-Shirt
At least $75 in donations - Choose from Gift Certificate Display
At least $150 in donations - South Stokes 2016-2017 Yearbook

Jostens was on campus this past week and gave packets of infomraiton about class rings to sophopmores  They will be back on Friday, September 30 during lunch to take orders for rings.

Jostens also met with seniors to discuss items for graduation. Orders for cap, gown, invitations, and more will be taken during lunch on Friday. The only thing students are required to purchase are the cap and gown. All items must be paid in full before students are allowed to walk at graduation.

Pictures Make-ups
Underclassmen who did not have their pictures made for the yearbook will have make-ups tomorrow, Monday, September 26.

Helping Hands service group will be holding Student Voter Registration Days on TuesdayWednesday, and Thursday next week during lunches in the cafeteria. If you are 16 or older you can register to vote in NC. Come by the table for a treat and register to vote!

Sophomores and juniors planning to attend a four-year college are encouraged to take the PSAT.  The test is the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program for juniors and is an excellent way to prepare for the SAT.  The test will be given during the school day on October 19.  Registration is now available in the Counseling Office and the cost is $15.  Fee waivers are available for juniors who are eligible.

School fees are now being collected in the office.  Fees can be paid with check or cash.  Checks should include phone numbers.  You can also pay fees online at  You can find detailed information about this service on the Stokes County Schools website on the Parent Page.  We will also be adding a link on the South Stokes Parent Page later this week.
