Saura Weekly Updates 10/2/2016

Weekly Updates - October 2, 2016

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Direct Donation Fundraiser!  We raised almost $4,000 to use towards instructional supplies, campus improvements, and technology.

School Fees

School fees are now being collected in the office.  Fees can be paid with check or cash.  Checks should include phone numbers.  You can also pay fees online at  You can find detailed information about this service on the Stokes County Schools website on the Parent Page.  We will also be adding a link on the South Stokes Parent Page later this week.

The following classes have fees:
Art - $12.00
Band - $12.00
Chorus/Theatre Arts - $10.00
Math - $5.00
PE - $8.00
Science (regular) - $5.00
Science (advanced) - $10.00

Sophomores and juniors planning to attend a four-year college are encouraged to take the PSAT.  The test is the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program for juniors and is an excellent way to prepare for the SAT.  The test will be given during the school day on October 19.  Registration is now available in the Counseling Office and the cost is $15.  Fee waivers are available for juniors who are eligible.

College & Career Readiness Day
Thursday, October 6 we will be holding a College & Career Readiness Day.  Every grade level will be completing morning activities which will help them prepare for future readiness assessments and career prep activities.  Freshmen will be completing technology workshops and college and career research, Sophomores will be taking Pre-ACT required by the state, Juniors will be preparing for the ACT that they will be required to take in March, and Seniors will be preparing for the required WorkKeys assessment and financial aid workshops.  In the afternoon, we are excited to host alumni speakers and hold a carnival to celebrate our past year of success.  We have several teachers and students who have worked to organize this day and it is important that all students be on campus on time on Thursday.  Students must attend the morning preparation activities in order to participate in the afternoon celebration.
