Saura Weekly Updates - April 29, 2018















Coming Soon...Lion King!
Mark your calendars for May 4 and 5 and come out to see our theater students perform Lion
King, Jr.  Students are working hard on sets, costumes, and staging in preparation for the show.  Be sure to check out our student leaders at one of the three shows that weekend!


Relay for Life Donations
This week we will be collecting donations for Relay for Life.  Tuesday, May 1 is "A Day for Change" and we will be out during morning dropoffs to collect donations for Relay.  Also starting on Monday grade levels will be competing in a Penny War against one another and our staff for a slushie social.  Students are encouraged to drop change in the buckets in the office or during lunch in the cafeteria.  Penny War donations will be accepted through Thursday, May 10.


AML Wrestling
The South Stokes Football program will be hosting a night of family friendly professional wrestling with the stars of AML Wrestling on Friday, May 18.  Doors open at 5:30 pm if you would like to meet the wrestlers and the first match begins at 7:00 pm in the South Stokes Gym.  Tickets are $13.00 and can be purchased in the main office.



Prom Tickets
Prom tickets will be available starting this week.  Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased with cash only.  Purchase tickets before school in Mrs. Boak's classroom (F2) or after school in Ms. McBride's classroom (F1).  All school fees must be paid before purchasing a prom ticket.


Yearbook Information
Be sure to get your 2017-2018 yearbook.  Your can purchase yearbooks online at yearbookforever.com or at school and the cost is $75.

Campus Beautification
Thank you to our students, staff, and the Duke Energy team for participating in our campus beautification day on Friday!  A special thank you to Brandon Burgess and Mrs. Roudabush for organizing the day.




Letter Jackets


Order forms for letter jackets are now available by clicking HERE or you may pick one up in the office.  Order forms and payment are due to school by April 27.  (The proof has a misspelling that will be corrected on the actual jackets.)

Saura Weekly Updates - April 15, 2018















It was an extremely busy week for the Sauras with Farm Animal Days, Art Extravaganza, Drill Competition, sports, and more.  





JROTC Drill Competition
Congratulations to the Marine Corps JROTC for winning 1st Place Overall at this weekend's drill competition in Mooresville.  Our cadets took home first place in unarmed platoon, unarmed squad, armed platoon, and varsity color guard; 2nd place in armed individual; and 3rd place in armed squad.  Great work, cadets!!

Farm Animal Days - SUCCESS!
Thank you to Mrs. Roudabush, Ms. Young, and our agriculture students for a successful Farm Animal Days.  Students spent several days teaching hundreds of elementary and special needs students about farm animals, farm equipment, and agriculture in North Carolina.  If you weren't able to attend, be sure to check out our video and pictures on Facebook and Twitter to learn more!

Saura Weekly Updates - April 8, 2018














Saura Arts
Congratulations to Sierra Anderson who won a national silver medal in the 2018 Scholastic Art and Writing Program.  Sierra will receive her award at Carnegie Hall in June and her work Don't Look Down will be on display in New York City this summer.  

We are proud of our many talented visual and performing arts students at South.  On Friday night, April 13 an at The Arts Place in Danbury be sure to come out to the High School Art Extravaganza and check out some of their awesome work!



Cap & Gown Pictures

Seniors will have cap & gown pictures made on Tuesday.  Unfortunately the order forms have not arrived from the company and we hope they come in on Monday.  Information about pictures can be found on the Senior webpage.  We anticipate prices will be similar to next year and you will also be able to order online.  


Cheerleading Tryouts
Our 2018-2019 Cheerleading season is getting ready to start up!

If your child is interested in Cheering for South Stokes, we will have a Parent/Athlete meeting on Tuesday, April 10th at 6pm in the cafeteria. In this meeting we will discuss tryout date, estimated costs, fundraising, cheer camp and much more. There will be Cheer Application packets in the office on Wednesday for those who are unable to attend the parent meeting. Thank you and Go Sauras!

Bus Drivers Needed!
Stokes County Schools is always looking for new bus drivers and sub bus drivers.  The next bus class will be April 9-11th here in Stokes County.  There is also a class scheduled for July 16-18th and September 17-19th.  If you are interested in learning more or signing up for a class, visit http://www.stokes.k12.nc.us/bus-driver-jobs.html.
