Saura Weekly Updates - November 25, 2018














We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  There are only about 5 weeks left in first semester.  We encourage you to review your child's grades and attendance and contact teachers if you have questions or concerns.  


Rod Cate Speaking Engagement & Book Signing
South Stokes graduate Rod Cate will be at South Stokes this week for a speaking engagement and book signing following the release of his book Get Back Up.  Rod will share about going from an athlete to a quadriplegic following a football accident his sophomore year at South and how to stay focused on an incredible life despite tragedy.  Mr. Cate will speak to students on Friday and have a public speaking engagement and book signing on Saturday, December 1 beginning at 5:00 pm.  For more information, check out http://stokesarts.org/rod-cate-book-signing-speaking-engagement-2/ or www.rodcate.com.

Winter Raffle Rush
Our Winter Raffle Rush is now going on with chances to win four gift baskets valued over $350 each!  Tickets are $5 and the winners will be drawn on December 14 at the home basketball game against West Stokes.  Check out the baskets and buy your tickets now!

Saura Santa Shop
South Stokes will host our 2018 Saura Santa Shop on Saturday, December 8 from 8:00 am until 12:00 Noon.  Be sure to swing by and purchase your gifts for the holidays!  In addition to our vendors, Santa and Mrs. Claus will also make an appearance!

Krispy Kreme Cards
We also have Krispy Kreme Buy One/Get One Dozen Free cards.  The cards are $25 and will help you save over $60 on these sweet treats!  Cards are available in the main office.  Be on the lookout for our first basket raffle of the year!  

Paint Night Sponsored by SSHS Band Boosters
December 15 the Band Boosters will sponsor a paint night to raise money for their band trip this year.  Details are available on Facebook at Saura Paint Night

Be sure to come out this weekend to see 

The Living Storybook: Alice in Wonderland 

performed by our theater arts department!  Shows are Friday night and Saturday night at 7:00 pm and tickets are available at the door for $5 for students and adults.



We have several other ways you can support the Sauras as well. The Saura Band is currently selling fruit.  Order by November 14 to reserve your cases for the holidays!  We also have Krispy Kreme Buy One/Get One Dozen Free cards.  The cards are $25 and will help you save over $60 on these sweet treats!  Cards are available in the main office.  Be on the lookout for our first basket raffle of the year!  We have several great baskets worth over $300 and tickets will be available soon!

Pre-ACT

All sophomores will take the Pre-ACT on Wednesday, November 14.  This test includes math, English, reading, and science subtests and provides information about students' career and college readiness.  Sophomores are encouraged to eat breakfast before the test and should bring a calculator if they have one.  



Drivers Ed Class
The next drivers ed class will be held November 26 - December 10 from 3:30 pm - 6:30 pm in the auditorium.  Students must have been born on or before May 26, 2004 to register for the class.  Registration is available on the Drivers Ed page of the website at the bottom of the page.  Registration will close on November 13 and the class roster will be posted on November 16.

Fall Blood Drive
Our health sciences program will be sponsoring our fall blood drive on Wednesday, November 7, from 8:30 am until 1:30 pm.  One pint of blood can save three lives and we hope you will consider donating.  You can go online to the American Red Cross (zip code 27052) to schedule an appointment or walk in on the day of the drive.  Visitors are asked to please sign in at the office when you arrive.
