Saura Weekly Updates - March 31, 2019

Cap and gowns for graduation were delivered this week!  The end of the year is quickly approaching and we want all of our students to be successful in their coursework and receive credit for spring semester classes.  Please remember that tutoring is available during SmartBreakfast from 8:00 - 8:25.  See the SmartBreakfast Schedule to see which days teachers are available in their classrooms.

WorkKeys Assessment
Eligible seniors will take the WorkKeys Assessment for free on April 2, 2019.  WorkKeys is an assessment of students' math, reading, and graphic literacy skills that can qualify students to earn a National Career Readiness Certificate , a credential students may use to help find employment.  Seniors must have taken a four-course sequence of career and technical education classes to be eligible to take the assessment.  Students who qualify will be notified of the date, time, and location of their testing.

Forsyth Tech Open House
Forsyth Tech will be holding an Open House on Saturday, April 13.  Students interested in attending Forsyth Tech after high school are encouraged to attend.  Please see the flyer and schedule for Open House below.

Spring at South
It is always busy at South, but this spring will bring a host of events to our campus.

April 24-26 - Farm Animal Days for elementary school students
April 27 - Farm Animal Community Day & Spring Fling
May 2-4 - "Charlotte's Web" by the SSHS Theatre Department
May 24 - Awards Day 9:00 am
June 7 - Graduation  7:00 pm

We sent home several attendance letters this week in compliance with Stokes County Schools' attendance policy.  Please make sure you are sending notes regarding excused absences within three days of your student missing school and have students turn notes into the office.  Students who miss more than 13 days are subject to having credits denied which can adversely affect their ability to graduate on time.
