Saura Weekly Updates - May 26, 2019
















This past week was full of Saura celebrations!  The Band Concert, Saura Seniors Serve, National Honor Society Inductions, class awards, Awards Day and Talent Show were just a few of the events our students took part in this week.



Exams and Chromebooks
Exams start this week!  Students need to make sure all keys on their Chromebooks are working and that their Chromebook is updated.  If student Chromebooks need servicing, please take them by the library and see Mrs. Himmelspach or Mrs. Campbell.

Drivers Ed Registration
The next drivers ed class will be held June 17-21 from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm.  Registration is now available on the Drivers Ed Page of our school website.  Students must have been born on or before December 17, 2004 to be eligible for the class.  Please read all of the information on the Drivers Ed Page before registering.





Senior Information for Graduation
Seniors have been informed of graduation practice times and the need to pay all school fees before graduation.  Information about dress requirements for graduation, schedules, and more can be found on the Seniors page of the South Stokes website.




Get Ready for Football!
The Sauras announced our new football coach this week!  Dave Diamont has been selected to lead the Sauras and is excited about the season ahead.  Students interested in playing or who would like to learn more should attend a meeting with the coaches on Thursday, June 6 at 7:00 pm in the auditorium.  We encourage all students who are considering playing football and their parents/guardians attend this meeting.




Class of 2020 Meeting
Navigating the senior year can be challenging.  Current juniors and their families should make plans to attend a meeting on Tuesday, June 4 at 6:00 pm.  Ms. Spargo will be discussing careers, college, college applications, and financial aid to help students and their families get a jump start on senior year.

Sports News

Fall schedules will soon be online at MaxPreps.com.

Cheerleaders and their parents/guardians should plan to meet Wednesday, May 29 at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria.

Football will have a meeting in the auditorium on Thursday, June 6 at 7:00 pm.  We encourage all students who are considering playing football and their parents/guardians attend this meeting.

Saura Weekly Updates - May 19, 2019
















Thank you to everyone who came out to our Saura Community Yard Sale and those who purchased raffle tickets for our spring prize basket!!  We sincerely appreciate your support in helping secure instructional materials and funds for campus improvements!!

Congratulations to Bryson Autry who placed 5th in pole vault at the NC 1A State Track Meet on Saturday!! Bryson broke the school record he set earlier this season with a 12' jump!  

We also very proud of our baseball, softball, and soccer teams for their showing in the state playoffs.  Keep playing with heart, Sauras!

I hope you were able to come out for the Spring Band Concert on Sunday.  Our band always does an awesome job and we appreciate their musical talent and dedication to the band program!  If you weren't able to attend the concert, be sure to catch parts of their performance on our Facebook page.


Friday:  
Awards Day, Yearbook Distribution, & Talent Show
Friday will be a very busy day at South.  Awards Day will begin at 9:00 am in the main gym.  The program usually runs until approximately 11:15 am.  Yearbooks will be distributed during lunch to those students who reserved a copy.  You may purchase a copy of the yearbook online using a credit or debit card through Tuesday.  We will also have a few copies at school for purchase.  The cost is $75.  After third period and lunch, the Talent Show will begin around 2:00 pm.  Come out and help celebrate our Sauras!

Saura Seniors Serve
Our seniors will be walking the halls of and spending time at elementary schools in the southern district on Wednesday, May 22.  After their service at the elementary schools they will go on the senior picnic and enjoy an afternoon together.   Seniors received their permission forms in homeroom on Friday and need to return them as soon as possible.

Saura Weekly Updates - May 12, 2019












It was another exciting week at South with state playoff games, staff appreciation activities, field trips and Prom!  Congratulations to our Prom Queen Lendzey Taylor and Prom King Travis Bingman!!  

The spring will continue to find the Sauras busy as we celebrate our students' accomplishments.


Spring Raffle
Be sure to purchase your tickets for the Saura Summer Celebration Basket that are now on sale.  Tickets are $1 and the drawing will be held on Saturday, May 18 at the Saura Community Yard Sale.  The basket includes the following:

Saura Community Yard Sale
The Sauras are holding a community yard sale at Southeastern Middle School on Saturday, May 18, 2019, from 8:00 am until Noon.  If you have clothing, household items, furniture or other items like the ones listed below and you would like to donate for the sale you may drop them off before school from 8 am - 8:30 am or after school from 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm.  All proceeds will help purchase instructional supplies and make campus improvements.  If you have questions about donations, contact the school at 336-994-2995 and speak to Amanda Campbell.

We're looking for...


CLOTHING: Ladies, mens, kids, children’s, baby, purses, belts, ties, wallets, dresses, shirts, pants, shoes. Virtually all types of Clothing, Shoes, and Accessories.

HOUSEHOLD: Dishes, glasses, silverware, small household appliances, bedding, linens, pillows, draperies, curtains, rugs, jewelry and cosmetics, comforters, home decor, baby items, art and frames.

TOYS: Stuffed animals, board games, dolls, action figures, and sports equipment.

ELECTRONIC: Stereo, radio, Xbox, Nintendo, Playstation, computers, laptops, monitors, DVD players, cameras, typewriters, and electronics. All types of small kitchen appliances. Televisions are accepted in most areas (excluding California and Pittsburgh). We can accept flat panel, LCD, LED & Plasma televisions. We’re sorry but we cannot accept older CRT, DLP or tube TVs.

BOOKS: Hardcover, softcover, fiction and non-fictions, e-readers.

EQUIPMENT: Exercise equipment: small weight benches, weights, sports gear, Sporting equipment: ski equipment, snowboards, helmets, baseball bats, basket balls, soccer equipment, tennis equipment, Tools: drills, saws, nail guns, Yard tools: lawnmowers, weed eaters, and hand trucks (no fuel of any type please!).

SMALL FURNITURE: Mirrors, nightstands, headboards, and office chairs.

OTHER: Bikes, musical instruments, small filing cabinets, garage sale leftovers, small appliances: microwaves, blenders, toasters, coffee makers, and almost anything else.

Saura Weekly Updates - May 5, 2019
















It was an exciting week for the Sauras!  Conference championships, Beta Club events, field trips, Special Olympics, and Charlotte's Web were just a few of the things that kept our students busy this week.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support the South Stokes Theater Program as they presented Charlotte's Web this weekend.  Mrs. Holland and her students put a lot of work into the program and that was evident in their performance!  If you were not able to see the show, check out the recording on our Facebook page.



We also have several sports victories to celebrate!  Congratulations to the Lady Saura Soccer team who won the NW1A Conference title and the Saura Baseball Team who won the Conference Tournament in the championship game against East Surry.  We also look forward to seeing several of our Sauras compete in Track & Field Regionals this week:  Ryley Lawson (100H, 300H), Lucey Patterson (100H), Hannah Roberts (PV), Bryson Autry (PV), Austin Evans (1600 & PV), Elijah Dunn (Discus), and Nimai Browning (100H, 300H, LJ, TJ)!!
