Saura Weekly Updates - October 27, 2019

College Application Week a Success!...
Financial Aid Night This Week

This past week was College Application Week and our seniors were very busy applying to colleges, touring community colleges, and learning about real world finances after high school!  Thank you to our counselors and college adviser for lining up visits, guest speakers, and learning opportunities for students!  Coming up this week, seniors and their parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to attend the Financial Aid Meeting that will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm.  Counselors will be on hand to help students and families complete the FAFSA and answer questions about scholarships and financial aid.  The meeting will be held in the library.

First Quarter Coming to a Close
The first quarter of the 2019-2020 school year ends Tuesday, October 29.  Student's grades for this quarter count for 40% of their final grade for the course.  While many of our students have done well this first quarter, others may be disappointed in their first quarter grades.  Being in school every day, completing all assignments, and attending tutoring when needed are crucial for success.  Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to check PowerSchool regularly to stay up-to-date with how their child is doing in class.  If you need assistance with accessing PowerSchool, please contact the school and speak to Jill Tuttle.  If you have questions about your child's grades or attendance, we encourage you to call or email their teachers for information.  Report cards for this quarter will come home with students on Tuesday, November 12.

Sophomores & the PreACT
All sophomores will be taking the PreACT on Tuesday,October 29.  The PreACT is a practice test for the ACT and a measure of career and college readiness.  Homeroom teachers shared information with students about their testing locations on Friday in homeroom.  Sophomores should bring a graphing calculator if they have one and report to testing when the bell rings on Tuesday morning.  For students who do not have a calculator, Mrs. Becky Patterson will be checking calculators out in room F6 beginning at 8:00 am on Tuesday morning.  To learn more about PreACT, go to or speak with your counselor.

"The Living Storybook:  Peter Pan"
We hope you'll make plans to support our theater department on November 15 and 16!  The Living Storybook:  Peter Pan will be performed Friday night, November 15 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, November 16 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm.  We look forward to seeing you at the shows!
