Saura Weekly Updates - December 1, 2019












We hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving spent with family and friends!  When students return to school on Monday there will only be 22 days of class before exams begin for first semester.  While we know this is a busy time of the year, please remind students to be at school every day and complete all assignments to help ensure success in first semester coursework.  Don't forget that all teachers are available several days a week for tutoring during Smart Breakfast from 8:00 until 8:25 am.  



Drivers Ed Registration
Registration for the next drivers ed class is now available.  The class will be held January 22 through February 4 from 3:30 pm until 6:30 pm in the auditorium at South Stokes.  The class is open to students born on or before July 22, 2005.  Registration will close on January 8 and the class roster will be posted January 10.  Get all the details and register on the South Stokes DRIVERS ED PAGE.



Special Olympics Volunteers
Stokes County Special Olympics will be held at South Stokes on Friday, April 24.  We need lots of caring and responsible students to help with serving concessions, assisting young athletes and competitors, escorting teams, and more.  Students interested in participating should pick up an application and return it to the office as soon as possible.  Applications should be returned to the office by December 13.  For more information, see Mrs. Fouche, Mrs. Heather White, Ms. Gallimore, or Mrs. Cheek.



Yearbooks and Senior Ads
Yearbooks are on sale for $65 until the end of first semester. You can purchase them online at www.yearbookforever.com or in school.

Seniors should bring baby pictures for the yearbook by December 6.  Also, senior ads are also on sale until January 20. More information can be found on the yearbook tab of the senior page.

Sports Physicals:  Student athletes all must have a current sports physical on file to participate in workouts, practices, and competitions.   Your doctor will need to complete the sports physical form  and should be signed by the student's parent/guardian.

Thank you for supporting our Sauras at the All County Band concert, blood drive, and the Holiday Market this past week!  

School will be closed for students Wednesday, November 27 through Friday, November 29 for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  


Drivers Ed Registration

Saura Weekly Updates - November 17, 2019












This past week was another busy week at South!  We hope you were able to come out to see The Living Storybook:  Peter Pan.  Our theater students worked hard on their show we appreciate your support of our casts.

We also want to say thank you for all of your support during the fall sports season.  Winter games begin this week.  Check out the winter sports schedules that are ready and make plans to attend this season!


Blood Drive
South Stokes will be hosting a Blood Drive Wednesday November, 20, 2019 from 8:30 am until 1:30 pm in the back gym. No appointment is needed to donate, but you can sign up online at redcross.org. Please sign in at the office when you arrive.


Saura Holiday Market
Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, November 23 when we will be hosting a Saura Holiday Market from 8:00 am until Noon.  Come out and start (or finish) your holiday shopping with local vendors.  Check out the event on Facebook!

Report Cards
Report Cards will come home on Tuesday, November 12.  Please review grades and attendance with your student and contact teachers if you have questions or would like to schedule a conference to discuss progress to this point in the semester.






"The Living Storybook:  Peter Pan"
We hope you'll make plans to support our theater department on November 15 and 16!  The Living Storybook:  Peter Pan will be performed Friday night, November 15 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, November 16, at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm.  We look forward to seeing you at the shows!
