Saura Weekly Updates - November 3, 2019

First Quarter Grades & Attendance
The first quarter of the 2019-2020 school year ended Tuesday, October 29.  Students' grades
for first quarter count for 40% of their final grade for the course.  While many of our students have done well this first quarter, others may be disappointed in their first quarter grades.  Being in school every day, completing all assignments, and attending tutoring during SmartBreakfast when needed are crucial for success.

Unfortunately, we have many students with excessive absences.  Please remember that Stokes County School Board Policy 4400 states if students are absent for 10 or more days in a semester, their grade may be reduced or credit may be denied for the course.  Attendance is taken in each class and accumulating 10 or more absences (excused or unexcused) in any class puts students in jeopardy of not receiving credit for that course.

Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to check PowerSchool regularly to stay up-to-date with how their child is doing in class.  If you need assistance with accessing PowerSchool, please contact the school and speak to Jill Tuttle (

If you have questions about your child's grades or attendance, we encourage you to call or email their teachers for information as well.  Report cards for first quarter will come home with students on Tuesday, November 12.
