Saura Weekly Updates - January 26, 2020

Second semester is off to a great start!  Be sure to check out some of the pictures from the week below and on social media.

Career & College Day - February 11

South Stokes will be holding a Career & College Day for all students on February 11, 2020.  Each grade level will be participating in readiness activities that day.

Seniors - Life Skills Courses with Guest Speakers and WorkKeys Study Tips
Seniors helped select topics important to them for after high school such as managing finances, how to study in college, information on trade programs at Forsyth Tech, grocery shopping on a budget, basic car care, types of insurance and many more!

Juniors - All juniors will be taking the ACT on February 25.  Not only does the ACT help with admission to four-year colleges and universities, but the scores can also be used to place into coursework at the community college.  South Stokes has contracted with a professional organization skilled in preparing students for the ACT to provide an ACT workshop on that day.

Freshmen & Sophomores - Juniors and seniors usually go on college tours, but we want to have our students start early!  Freshmen and sophomores have been offered six different tours to choose from on February 11:  Appalachian State; NC State; Winston-Salem State & Forsyth Tech; UNC-Charlotte; UNC-Greensboro & Greensboro College; and Rockingham Community & Guilford Tech.  More information and permission slips will be coming home this week.

We look forward to a great day helping students plan for the future!

Saura Weekly Updates - January 12, 2020

First Semester Exams
First semester exams will be held January 13 through January 17 with one exam each day.  Exam days will be early dismissals at 12:20 pm.  Students may not be dismissed early from exams until their exam location is called for lunch.  This helps preserve secure testing conditions and helps prevent mis-administrations which could require retesting of individual students or groups of students.  Please make sure any appointments for that week are scheduled for after the exam dismissal time.  Students who are finished testing and who bring a note may be dismissed when their building is released from lunch.  If your student plans to leave when they are called to lunch, please make sure to send a note on each exam day.  Homeroom teachers shared this information with students on Friday as well.  Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Monday, January 13 - 1st Period Exams
Tuesday, January 14 - 2nd Period Exams
Wednesday, January 15 - 3rd Period Exams
