Saura Weekly Updates - September 6, 2020

Students Return to
School September 14!

We are excited to have students return to campus on Plan B beginning Monday, September 14!  You can view the contents of Dr. Rice's message HERE or on the Stokes County Schools website.   We sent phone messages on Thursday letting you know which group you student is assigned to at this time.  Please contact the school if you have any questions.

The calendar for "A" Day and "B" Day students can be found in the Stokes County Schools Relaunch Plan.  These dates have also been added to the South Stokes calendar as well.

PowerSchool Grades
We have completed two weeks of instruction and teachers are updating grades in PowerSchool.  Please be sure to login to view grades and attendance information.  Students are able to sign in and view their grades as well.  If you would like access to PowerSchool, please contact Jill Tuttle in the office for information about accessing your account.

School Pictures
School pictures for underclassmen and senior makeups will take place in October.  The schedule can be found below.  Please note, there will not be a makeup day for underclassmen, so students who would like to be pictured in the yearbook will need to have their pictures made on these dates.

Yearbooks on Sale!
Yearbooks for the 2020-2021 school year are now on sale.  The price is $55.00 and if you order a personalized yearbook by September 11, you get four free icons on the cover.  You can purchase yearbooks at school or online.  The link can be found on the school website under Students, click on Order a Yearbook.  Also, information about senior ads is on the school website.  Ads will be due in December.

Updating Chromebooks
Some students are having problems with pictures and videos appearing.  Teachers are going to walk students through updating their Chromebooks and clearing memories to hopefully help with some of the issues students have been running into.  If students continue to have problems, please submit a Tech Ticket on the school website and our staff will get in touch with you to help resolve the issue.

When fees are applied for spring semester, field trip payments are due, etc. you will receive a notification and be able to see the fees on the site. You can then pay the fees online or in the office at school.

GOOD NEWS from Child Nutrition!
This past week we were informed the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended the summer nutrition program through December 31, 2020 which allows all students to eat for free at school.  Meals can be picked up this week between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.  Once students return to school on September 14, breakfast will be distributed to all students as they arrive and lunches will be delivered to 3rd period classrooms and eaten with their classes.  Lunches will be packaged and no extra items (chips, candy, soft drinks, etc.) will be available for purchase.

For students working remotely, you can continue to pick up meals, but the times for curbside pick up will change to 10:35 - 11:35 am.  A link to the  menu is available on the school website.

Parking Permits
Applications for parking permits will be distributed once all students are back on campus.  While we are under Plan B, student drivers may park in any numbered spot in the front parking lot.

Sports Information
This week the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) announced a plan for shortened sports seasons which will begin in November.  The amended sports calendar can be found below.  The week of August 17 will be a "dead period" with no workouts that week.    Contact coaches for information about any scheduled workouts.
