State Testing - February 23
Tuesday, February 23 we will be administering several state required tests on campus.  All sophomores and juniors will need to be on campus on the 23rd to take the Pre-Act (10th graders) and the ACT (11th graders).  Select seniors will also be taking the WorkKeys Assessment on the 23rd and these seniors will be notified with additional testing information.

PreACT (Sophomores)
Families of sophomores can learn more about the PreACT at

ACT (Juniors)
Juniors are encouraged to access study materials for the ACT to get familiar with the test questions and format at

**  Students taking the Pre-ACT and ACT should bring calculators for the test if they have one.

WorkKeys (Select Seniors)
Select seniors will be taking the ACT WorkKeys which is a nationally recognized assessment of job readiness.  Students who take the test have the opportunity to earn a National Career Readiness Certificate verifying their workplace skills which may prove beneficial in obtaining employment in a variety of fields.  You can learn more about WorkKeys at

Please encourage students to watch their school email accounts for additional information and reminders leading up to February 23.

School Nutrition Updates
Breakfast and lunch will continue to be free for all students through the remainder of the school year.  The program will soon begin offering extras for sale in addition to distributing the meals.  Students must receive a meal before being able to purchase chips, snacks, cookies, and extras.  Students will only be able to purchase extras if they have money or there is money on their accounts.  No charging of extras will be allowed.  You can view your student's lunch account and add money to accounts at  You can also view the menu for the month on the Stokes County School Nutrition website.

Free & Reduced Lunch Applications!
Even though breakfast and lunch are free for all students this year, it is very important that families who qualify complete the free and reduced lunch application.  Free and reduced lunch percentages impact funding for our school district and several of our families who qualified in the past have not applied this year.  Please be sure to compete the application online a or contact the school for a paper application.

Yearbook Information!
Don't forget to reserve your copy of the 2020-2021 Yearbook!  Yearbooks will be delivered during the summer and will include most of the spring events.  Find information about ordering on the South Stokes website on the Order the Yearbook page under Students.

Athletic Boosters Cash Giveaway  - March 2021

The Athletic Boosters are making plans to hold the $10,000 Cash Giveaway that was originally scheduled for March 2020.  The event will be held March 27, 2021 and details for the event will be forthcoming.  Tickets can be purchased from Boosters members or at school.

Technology Assistance
If students are having problems with their Chromebooks, please submit a Tech Ticket on the school website and our staff will get in touch with you to help resolve the issue.

Sports Updates

Sports schedules have been add to the South Stokes Calendar and are aligned to the shortened seasons announced by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA).  The amended sports calendar can be found below.  Contact coaches for information about any scheduled workouts.
