All sophomores and juniors will need to be on campus on the 23rd to take the Pre-Act (10th graders) and the ACT (11th graders). Select seniors will also be taking the WorkKeys Assessment on the 23rd and these seniors will be notified with additional testing information.
Families of sophomores can learn more about the PreACT at https://www.act.org/content/dam/act/unsecured/documents/PreACT_info.pdf.
Juniors are encouraged to access study materials for the ACT to get familiar with the test questions and format at https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/state-and-district-solutions/act-info-for-examinees.html
** Students taking the Pre-ACT and ACT should bring calculators for the test if they have one.
WorkKeys (Select Seniors)
Select seniors will be taking the ACT WorkKeys which is a nationally recognized assessment of job readiness. Students who take the test have the opportunity to earn a National Career Readiness Certificate verifying their workplace skills which may prove beneficial in obtaining employment in a variety of fields. Athletic Boosters Cash Giveaway - March 27, 2021
The Athletic Boosters will hold the $10,000 Cash Giveaway on March 27, 2021. Tickets sold for the event that was postponed last March will be included in this year's drawing. This event may be live online if COVID restrictions prevent meeting in person. Details for the event will be forthcoming. Tickets can be purchased from Boosters members or at school. Please consider supporting our Boosters and student athletes by purchasing a ticket.
Registration for the next Drivers Ed class is now available. The class will be held March 15-22 from 3:30 - 8:30 pm each evening. Details and the registration form can be found on the South Stokes Drivers Ed Page of the school website. Registration closes on March 3.
School Nutrition UpdatesBreakfast and lunch will continue to be free for all students through the remainder of the school year. The program will soon begin offering extras for sale in addition to distributing the meals. Students must receive a meal before being able to purchase chips, snacks, cookies, and extras. Students will only be able to purchase extras if they have money or there is money on their accounts. No charging of extras will be allowed. You can view your student's lunch account and add money to accounts at https://www.k12paymentcenter.com/. You can also view the menu for the month on the Stokes County School Nutrition website.
Free & Reduced Lunch Applications!
Even though breakfast and lunch are free for all students this year, it is very important that families who qualify complete the free and reduced lunch application. Free and reduced lunch percentages impact funding for our school district and several of our families who qualified in the past have not applied this year. Please be sure to compete the application online at https://www.lunchapplication.com or contact the school for a paper application.
Pandemic Electronic Benefits Updates
North Carolina will be providing electronic pandemic food assistance benefits, also referred to as P-EBT, to help eligible families purchase food for their children. Households with children enrolled at South Stokes who are eligible for free or reduced price meals under the National School Lunch Program and have been impacted by virtual or remote learning due to COVID 19 are eligible. If your child is eligible and you already have an EBT card, the benefits will be loaded on your existing card. If your child is eligible and you do not currently have an EBT card, a card will be mailed to the address you have provided to the school.
If you have not completed a free or reduced-price meal application this school year, and think your child may be eligible, you can apply online at lunchapplication.com or get a paper application from school.

Don't forget to reserve your copy of the 2020-2021 Yearbook! Yearbooks will be delivered during the summer and will include most of the spring events. Find information about ordering on the South Stokes website on the Order the Yearbook page under Students.
